Kia has launched its first car Seltos SUV in India at a price range of Rs 9.69 lakh – Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Locally manufactured at the Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh, bookings for the Kia Seltos has already commenced and as the company claims, every fifth booking for the SUV comes online. Around 5,000 units of the car are being produced currently at the plant, claimed the automaker.
The SUV was first showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo alongside other models from the brand.
The Seltos comes with Kia’s signature Tiger nose grille flanked by sleek projector headlamps with heart-shaped LED daytime running lights integrated. Also, a sculpted front bumper, diamond-cut alloy wheels, sleek LED taillights are there.
The automaker claims that Kia Seltos has a class-leading 433-litre space inside the cabin combined with a wide range of premium features and tech. Available in two different variants, Tech Line and GT Line, the Kia Seltos gets a black and beige theme inside the cabin.
The UVO app comes offering several connectivity options for the car including Stolen Vehicle Tracking (STV) and other telematics features. It gets an in-cabin air filter, while the safety features include six airbags, iso-fix child anchor, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, anti-lock brake system, brake-force assist system and hill-start assist control.
In terms of dimensions, the Seltos is 4,315mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,620mm high, which makes it a bit longer and wider than the Hyundai Creta. Up front, it sports Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose’ grill which is flanked by automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs along with a faux skid-plate. At the back, the LED tail-lights are connected by a chrome strip which sports the Kia logo. Positioned lower are faux twin-exhaust outlets and a skid plate. Inside, buyers can choose between two interior colour schemes. The GT Line is the sportier of the two and features an all-black theme with red stitching. Meanwhile, the Tech-Line is the more luxurious option featuring beige seats with a hexagonal pattern and beige stitching.
Top-of-the-line Seltos models come equipped with a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additionally, the touchscreen gets Kia’s UVO Connect suite (like Hyundai’s BlueLink system) which comes with 37 features under five categories (Navigation, Safety and Security, Vehicle Management, Remote Control and Convenience). It also gets leather upholstery, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, 17-inch alloys, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, an in-car air purifier, cruise control, a head-up display, a 360-degree parking camera and ambient lighting. As for safety the top-spec Seltos trims feature six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, front and rear parking sensors and a blind-spot view monitor.
The 1.4 GDI petrol engine is available with a 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT and it churns out 140 PS of power and 242 Nm torque. The 1.5 petrol unit belts out 115 PS of power and 144 Nm and it is available with 6-speed MT and smart stream IVT.
The 1.5 VGT diesel engine, churns out 115 PS power and 250 Nm. This engine is available with 6-speed MT and 6-Speed advance AT options
